Guatemala Rigel
San Marcos, in the mountainous west, is known as "the place where volcanoes wake up" and is the oldest, wettest and hottest of Guatemala's 8 coffee-producing regions. The rich volcanic soil and microclimates are excellent for growing coffee: the rain comes early and the plants bloom before the other regions. This exclusive Robusta coffee was born here: sweet, clean, exceptional. In this area of the world, coffee is called Reikal, after Her Reikal, the foreigner who brought it and cultivated it for the first time. The symbol of this single-origin is a corn, because coffee has become, for the survival of the natives, as important as the corn, which here cannot grow like downstream. The Finca Panorama where our single-origin comes from, very close to the Mexican border, is run by the Coto family: Samuel and Stuardo, who are committed to the continuous training of their workers and to improving conditions for the whole community. One exceptional location for experimental microlots such as this Robusta Project with an exceptional result.
