Description and details

This single-origin originates from the high-altitude mountains of Huehuetenango, one of Guatemala's nonvolcanic regions where landowners often own less than 1 hectare of land in widely spaced plots.

In the cup, our Guatemala Maragogype has a robust body. The first sip satisfies with a dark chocolate undertone, complemented by apple and candied citrus notes, and then settles into an aftertaste with almond notes.

Guatemala Maragogype

This selection comes from the plants of a small farmer in Todos Santos, Luis Calmo, who has transformed his family’s farm with conventional crops to a high quality specialty coffee, which have won important awards and which repay him for poor harvests and investments in training, equipment and sustainable practices.
Its coffees grow in the shade and are harvested manually and processed on site, pulping the drupes with small manual drum machines.

The variety of arabica Maragogype, discovered for the first time in the Brazilian state of Bahia, is a natural mutation of Typica that gives a very large grain, the largest in the world, so much to be called "elephant grain". It has a very low caffeine content and is known for its softness and digestibility.
